Well another year is coming to an end and 2019 is just around the corner.

We came close to shutting down this year but thankfully our host gave us a great deal that cut our operating costs substantially. We also upgraded our forums to the latest version after years of putting it off do to incompatibility issues with the website.

To our donors, streaming admins and other supporters, we wish to thank you for all your support to keep PBBans alive over the past year and previous years. With our lower operation costs, we hope that we don’t have to consider closing anytime soon.

I'm sure you have noticed we have updated our forums. First thing you notice is it moved from www.pbbans.com/forums to community.pbbans.com. The old links should redirect to the new forum as well.

Some info you may need:

1. Login usernames are now your display name or email address.

2. Support Tickets no longer exist. All previous tickets will be moved to a sub forum located at  https://community.pbbans.com/forum/607-private-support/ in the next day or so.

3. The website is converted to use the new forums however do to the vast number of pages there still may be some parts that have been missed. I will be fixing those glitches as they show up.

4. The theme is not 100% complete and is a work in progress but there should be no issues with using the new forums.

The biggest reason to upgrade now is the old forums hit end of life status over a year ago and is open to security risks. They did not work with PHP 7+.

Hard to believe 2017 is coming to an end already and 2018 is just around the corner.

Not many changes occurred this year. We had a few close calls of closing so we added subscriptions to help raise donations which gives advanced access to the MPi.

We made our admins aware of our PB master server project that has been running for over 3 years. It's for discontinued games where we host the cheat detection signatures using the last known list before game support was discontinued by Even Balance.

We know it has become more difficult for game communities to financially support PBBans when the games that help build many communities have moved away from Punk Buster, traditional hosted servers and full RCON control. It also doesn't help that people playing games with Punk Buster is on the decline too.

Not sure what 2018 has in store for us but time will tell.

For the past 13 years PBBans has been completely independent and we have been free to choose our hosting providers because of the donations from our generous community. However, over the past 6 months the monthly donations have not been enough to cover our hosting costs even with the reduction of the amount required. The additional funds have been coming from the months we exceeded our monthly goal which is now running out.

Over the years we explored many options to help fund PBBans but our primary goal is to keep our services online and ad free without requiring any fees to use if possible. Using advertisements on the website was an option and we did try Goggle ads for guest users but they didn’t work out in the end.

We have had numerous offers from game server providers to host us on hardware they own or rent and we greatly appreciated the offers. We prefer the ability to choose our own hosting solutions and didn’t want to run into the scenario of the GSP no longer wishing to sponsor us and we would be forced to move.

Finally, the number of streaming servers has dropped considerably over the last 8 years and the number of active community members with it. With more new games not using Punk Buster it has reduced the community overall.

We have lifted the BF3 bans for Violation #51048 from midnight on June 1st to present time from the MBI and the UMBI.

We have confirmed that long standing Violation #51048 may be triggered by newly released non-cheat software. This Violation code has been removed from our system and we encourage server admins to give the benefit of the doubt to players who raised this violation number after May 31, 2015.

37 Battlefield 3 Bans have been removed from the MBi.
9 Unofficial bans have been removed also.

We have lifted all BF3 and BF4 bans for violation #79623 after Even Balance confirmed that the violation could have been raised by non-cheat software.

7 BF4  bans have been removed from the PBBans MBi.

1 BF4 ban has been removed from the UMBI.

We have lifted all 81568 bans in BF4 for the time being.

Even Balance has not yet confirmed if it is a false positive but we decided to lift the bans as it can take EB a few days to confirm if a violation number can be triggered by non-cheat software.

We can easily restore the bans should EB confirm they are valid so we have lifted them to prevent possible innocent players from being able to play. This also gives EB more time to investigate.

546 Unofficial Battlefield 4 Bans have been removed also.
