Sound Card

Kolor

Recommended Posts

My Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty has kicked the bucket, running on temporary card at the moment, Anyone have recommendations for a replacement? The one that croaked was a good solid card so I'm not adverse to buy another unless I can find something better.

I don't run any surround sound and mostly play CoD4 and use it for listening to music. Open to ideas.

I've been using a Asus Xonar DS for quite a while now and never had any issues with it.

Sound quality is absolutely fine for the price, and i've never had any problems with the drivers and/or control panel that comes with it.

Just a very nice and basic soundcard that does what it needs to do.

Yeah I get like a white noise in the background when I use that, counteracts the tinnitus but better the devil you know (and have learned to live with).

tinnitus from for ever here. never understood the "ringing" description. sounds like static or electronic squealing in my head. or maybe that is the aliens talking...

Its not like it was a few years ago where having the likes of a sound card from creative gave you the edge over your opponents, the majority of onboard sound cards are 7.1 and are of very high quality.

Been running this one for years with absolutely no issues of any kind. Reliable, basic drivers and excellent sound quality, especially with good headphones. I use AKG K240 600 ohm headphones with it, and the immersion in game is unblievable. Not cheap though. Can't go wrong with the Asus cards listed above either. I think they use the same C-media chip.

Yeah, it's quite the sound card. Swappable opamps also. You can customize the sound to your liking. Only drawback to the Claro Halo is the fact that it uses a PCI slot. Getting harder to find a mobo with those these days.
