[uPDATE] Another publication, Bubble News, claims to have lots more details about this year's Call of Duty game. A source has told the site that the game is called Call of Duty: Patriots and Smith Black is actually the name of one of its main characters. It is reportedly in development for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC only, not Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Wii U.

As for its setting, Bubble News has learned that Call of Duty: Patriots will be set during a fictional version of World War 1, and the game will reportedly have a "fantasy" element. One example provided is that one of the main characters is actually from a past Call of Duty title, but in an alternate reality. The site goes on to claim that Call of Duty: Patriots has both single- and multiplayer modes, and that the single-player mode is playable via online co-op. Splitscreen won't be offered, according to the report.

Finally, the main campaign is expected to last six hours, the site says. However, it's rumored that there will be two sub-campaigns. In addition, developer Sledgehammer Games is planning Call of Duty: Patriots to be a three-part series, according to the report. Lastly, Call of Duty: Patriots is rumored to launch November 14.

None of the above information is confirmed, so until we hear directly from Activision, you should take these details with a grain of salt.

The original story is below.

A new report from MP1ST claims that 2014's Call of Duty game--developed by Sledgehammer Games--is codenamed "Blacksmith," and will be officially announced sometime in May. MP1ST did not say where its information comes from.

This is not the first time we've heard the "Blacksmith" codename for this year's Call of Duty game. YouTuber Drift0r claims he saw the new game earlier this year and that it was referred to as "Call of Duty: Blacksmith."

We have reached out to representatives for Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games for comment, but have not heard back as of press time. Sledgehammer Games co-developed 2011's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward. The first image of this year's Call of Duty game emerged last week, but it doesn't show much.

If Activision does formally announced this year's Call of Duty game in May, it won't be much of a surprise. Historically, Activision announces new Call of Duty games in May in the lead-up to their eventual release often in November of the same year.

2014's Call of Duty title is rumored to be a future-set Modern Warfare 4, but of course this is not confirmed. Earlier this year, Sledgehammer Games cofounder Glen Schofield said the game is the "most ambitious, most creative game we've ever made." Meanwhile, Activision Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick previously described 2014's Call of Duty title as "perhaps the best Call of Duty game ever created."

COD:AW will have a brand new game engine for Xbox and Playstation...No word for PC yet.

Anyone who thought that the Call of Duty game engine has started to show its age will finally, at long last, be getting a reprieve. The series ran the same (albeit improved) engine throughout the entirety of the Xbox 360/ PS3 generation, and those fans that notice this sort of thing took that as one of the biggest problems with the series — that Activision was essentially re-skinning the same game over and over. Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the first title in the series built specifically for the Xbox One and PS4, and it’s going to be powered by brand-new tech.

“We’ve had two and a half years to create brand-new tech to control and support this game,” Sledgehammer audio director Don Veca told Game Informer. “It’s something like 10 times the memory since this is next-gen. With all this extra memory and new mixing technology, we don’t have to compress everything. We can make things longer and let them breathe.”

The exclusivity deal that sees all the DLC content for the Call of Duty games appear first on Xbox platforms will cover Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare as well, Microsoft has announced. The firm posted an update on Xbox Wire regarding the game and confirmed the news. The exclusivity deal -for those who don’t know-, means that all future DLC add-ons for Advanced Warfare will be deployed first on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, a month before coming to other platforms.

Again, I’ll stick to what I heard someone else say when I saw the multi-player trailer: This is “Titanfall meets bits of Halo.” I still would like to see Call of Duty take a couple steps back and make a historic war FPS using their current graphics and physic engines rather than the far-out sci-fi stuff. Think World War II or Vietnam. But hey! New C.o.D!

Recently, Activision Blizzard (ATVI) revealed a new four player co-op survival mode for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which is scheduled to release in Nov 2014. The Call of Duty series was launched in 2003. The series comprises a first person and third person video shooter game.

http://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-advanced-warfare-will-cut-down-on-quick-scoping/

I'm not a fan of "quick-scoping," the practice of quickly looking through the scope of a sniper rifle, snapping off a shot, and then immediately switching back to a normal view. I'll admit that my dislike stems at least in part from my inability to do it with any degree of success, but I've also always been put off by the way hopping around while shooting an enormous rifle from the hip looks so utterly anti-sniper, too.

But while it's common in many online shooters, including previous Call of Duty releases, Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey says the studio is taking steps to reduce the tactic in Advanced Warfare. Sledgehammer's focus for multiplayer is ensuring that skill, not an "overpowered create-a-class," will determine the outcome of online battles, so that someone who's perfected playing as a sniper will be on equal footing with other players who have developed comparable skills with assault rifles or shotguns.

About time they did something about quick scoping...

PC version is out in the wild

There are no dedicated servers, the game automatically chooses a player's PC as a host. If he leaves, it automatically migrates.

Real f**king revolutionary in countries with poor internet. Migrating every 5 seconds while it feels like you're playing with 400ms.
