Just keep a clean installation copy of /pb for backup
pb_BF1942_2-2010_fresh.rar 3.23MB
772 downloads
pb_BF1942_all_dll.rar 1.62MB
375 downloads
pb_BF1942_all_htm.rar 7.43MB
415 downloads^Windows 32^, would be great if somebody could upload pb-linux/server-files, pbsv.so etc.

And...does this mean if we catch a hacker with a screenshot, he'll get nothing but a local ban?
Sorry I know I'm a confused noob...but I want to know exactly what will happen soon enough.

It just means EvenBalance won't be updating PB for BF1942 anymore. There won't be any new client/server updates and they won't update PB to detect BF1942 hacks, even if you send in one (SS Proof w/ hack info removed attached).
I believe the PB program will still work and stuff, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh sure...but what I meant was...does PB *require* the evenbalance servers to simply function on our game server?
And would PBBans still be able to add the screenshot/hacker to their MBi?

- you were streaming to PBBans
- the BF1942 PB Auth server was still operating

So the problem is rather if 1. client will be a allowed to connect to a server 2. the pb server log will show a guid that is valid*
rather than if pb server and client will communicate (e.g. pbss requests).
PB MasterServers are still online and my guess is, they will stay as long BFV or even BF2 is around.
Problem b.) Gamespy MasterServer does the ingame browser, so noobs (and statwhores) will need it ;P
imo won't happen they go offline as long there are BF-Series servers (see BF2 master servers http://d3.jpn.org/wiki/GyaASE:Master_Servers )
* As a last resort servers could run as LAN servers pb_sv_gameauth 0 ... in result any valid or invalid guid would be allowed to connect.

However admins can set the pb_sv_gameauth setting to 0 to tell PB not to kick players while central Authing is disabled on Internet-based BF1942 servers.

64 downloadsas stated we will continue support for BF1942 as long as ... it makes sense.

P.S.:
on a personal note: Proof once and forever: why newer doesn't mean better, go figure the difference between Sound and Noise

Here is a link to help those who have reinstalled their game or OS, update their PB without a hassel.
http://tankpanzer.com/Joomla/index.php/bf42/1-pbbf42 - this is a self installing PB update
And here is option number 2 from moongamers.
http://tankpanzer.com/Joomla/index.php/bf42/2-pbupdatebf42 - This is the more complicated way of updating.

I can't get this to work, I can't join the servers anymore, the game shuts down with a "...is not responsing"-message.
Do you know how to help me?
(I replaced the old files with the ones you used (saved the originals of course))
I installed some kind of bp-updater for 1942 before, maybe it was too old or just a fraud.

I moved to my new house in September 2010 and since I was missing playing that game (I last played it in July I think), I just reinstalled BF1942 on my new computer this morning. I found your website and forum while attempting to download the latest PB files.
Do I need to install all of the 3 files below and if so in which order?
Thanks.
