pb protecttag

hi all,

does pbbans have a pb protecttag list, wich i can add to my server

We don't collect them. But if admins wish to exchange such lists, they're welcomed to do it here.

I think its better for the community then the admins really... Makes registering the tag more effective if everyone has it in there config.

I only have a ProtectedTag List from the RVS Community. It's a start.

protected.cfg


Add following line to your pbsv.cfg:

pb_sv_task 120 -1 pb_sv_load protected.cfg //Loads tag protection

K, Silly questions here

What does this protect tag thing actually do?

I assume it protects the tags lol...but in the list someone posted above i dont see any identifiers or anything..so how does it know if you should be wearing the tag or not?

Can I prevent other players from using my name or tag on my own server?

Yes, if you or your clan run your own server, you can can configure your server to remove players who use your name or tag without the proper credentials using the following PunkBuster Server commands:
PB_SV_ProtectName [Unique ID] [Registered Name]
Protects the specified PunkBuster Registered Name on the local server so that players who wear the protected name without having the correct Registration Credentials will be removed from the server.
PB_SV_ProtectTag [Unique ID] [Registered Tag]
Protects the specified PunkBuster Registered Tag on the local server so that players who wear the protected tag without having the correct Registration Credentials will be removed from the server.

why make a seperate cfg just for the tag protection ?? just add teh line inthe sever cfg :jam:

I think the line only needs to be executed once, then pb will create a file called regname.dat and save the info in it.

Some of the game specific forums had them. While the tags work globally theres no point in protecting a tag in a game that the acutal team doesn't play I suppose.
