[nC]EliteCoders on servers
Posted Mar 10, 2006 - 09:05 PM
From +/- one year, server where i play from years, started visited guys from Elitecoders like: [nC]na1rda (from Poland), [nC]'gS (from Netherland), [nC]M3f (?). They are using etBot.
There is no way to do nothing with them. They use each connection (or even every 15 min.) different Guid, different nicks (only sometimes use nicks wich i listed above) and i suspect different IP.
Proofs they are cheaters? Please:
10 III 2006, 13:22
[nC]na1rda : na1rda.dm_84
10 III 2006, 13:24
[nC]'gS : gs.dm_84
10 III 2006, 13:29
[nC]M3f : m3f.dm_84
Did they do that permanently? Of course. (G5 and G4@UPC.[PL] are servers where i play)
There are also 1 or 2 other "friends" from [nC].
And? And nothing work, punkbuster, kicking... . They still back on the server. Afterk kick, they are back in 15 sec. (time needed only for reconnect).
I fighted with them for kicking from server every time, when i saw them. Few days ago, one of them, say to me: i wil take your Guid, your nick, record demo etc., send this where its needed, and you will be baned for end of the world.
Few minutes ago, i played on server, and one [nC] joining server with my nick, and started eliminate whole axis team with 1-2 headshots.
So now i (and other like me on this serwer) waiting for pbban.
Did any smart head, have advice for me and others?
almost finished player of ET.

your post says you just kicked them, did you try banning them ?
first do pb_sv_plist to get the information you require .. then pb_sv_banguid xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(x=the 32 character guid of the player you want to ban)
you can also ban by IP using either pb_sv_banmask or the old q3 method:
pb_sv_banmask 22.214.171.124 (126.96.36.199 = bad guys static ip)
If the IP is dynamic enter pb_sv_banmask 12.123(12.123 is bad guys ip range) ,this will effectively ban 65,000 people from
entering your server along with the bad guy (details on how to ban by IP using the old method is shown below)
How to ban by IP using old Q3 rcon method
If the bad guys IP is static then there is no problem , first thing to check is if the filterban variable is on or off;
/rcon seta g_filterban 0/1 (0 = IP banning is off 1 = IP banning is on)
next we add the llama's IP
/rcon addIP 3188.8.131.52 (pb_sv_banmask 3184.108.40.206 has the same effect)
if his IP is dynamic you need to do a little more work .. first stage is to collect some IP addresses he connects with .. it will look something like this;
notice that the common numbers are 312.27.48 and 312.27.32 ... what we do now is ban all IP's within that range like this
/rcon addIP 312.27.48
/rcon addIP 312.27.32
this will filter all IP's in the range of 3220.127.116.11 through 318.104.22.168 and 322.214.171.124 through 3126.96.36.199 this effectively bans your lamer without banning a whole IP range that affects a lot of innocent people
if we just ban the whole IP range
/rcon addIP 312.27
this bans all IP's from 3188.8.131.52 through 3184.108.40.206
( we get 65,000 people by multiplying 255x255)
your call , its your server, ban 65,000 in one stroke or do a little work and ban a llama
another bit of advice would be to use a remote console for admin work such as HLSW .. saves a hell of a lot of time and typing, even when in game
and last but not least get your server streaming here and get the most up to date protection your server can get re cvars and md5 scans .. its the least your hard worked server deserves

there is no way to my knowledge that a guid can be taken off yawn or anywhere else and used by someone to play online with malicious intent

If there are any legal brains out there, is there not a way, we as a gaming community could take legal action against them for using our servers that we pay for? It seems to me in the world of inter-net crime, this could be at least pursued under a class action lawsuit. I would be interested in any opinions on this. Most clans are (sorry for saying it) ran by the younger set and they seem to not be aware that this is technically a crime in many states. I.E.:Florida computer crime law, plainly states that ANY unauthorized entry or use of ANY computer or computer system is a class "D" felony.
It just seems like if we united, we would at least have cause to involve authorities. Maybe not, just curious as to your thoughts.
Oh, and to the guy who is getting copied. Go to Even balance and register your name. it only cost 12.00 a year and you set a password to your name. Then, if you do a /pb_plist, if it is you, it will show up as registered. I have a former member doing the same to me, but I paid to register my clan tags (24.00 a year) and gave the password to my admin staff. So now we all show up as PB registered. Money well spent in my mind. Hope this helps.
