I checked my server today and I see it finally filled up with players. Hopefully the players like it. We'll see how long this lasts. :)

Congrats...its always fun when it fills up for the first time.
For us it was back in the first week of the game...for about a month we were in the top 100 servers gamewide and there were servers busier than ours, we had our empty periods, but I know at least 1 server was full all day everyday.

Hope it keeps up for you.

Good stuff guys :) I've noticed that whilst our clan members don't play much or for long periods (we do other things lol) the server once populated keeps going. I'd love to know how some manage 24/7 full servers though.

Finally got around to playing this game and all I can say is thank God I got it on a Steam special and didn't pay big $$ for it. It taxes even the most recent systems and graphics cards and I won't even mention the horrendous video lag even with VSync enabled... (anyone who has a pre-2010 computer, don't bother with this unless you like to run it in super low res mode and have graphics like BFV...). Not only that, but there's no console so there's no way of getting PB GUID and hence, no way of reporting cheaters. Can't vote off cheaters either. EA and Dice screwed the pooch on this one for sure. BF3 isn't looking promising given what they've done to this game....

I'll let you off posting in a thread thats 7 months old because you just got the game :P but its not going to prevent me relating my experience with BFBC2.
The game plays great for me on the whole, I have everything cranked to the max and have no problems at all.
The one thing needed to play this game with any degree of consistency is a quad core cpu.
The PBGUID is based on a combination of cd key and EA account, so as long as you get the ingame alias correct its a simple matter for the server admin to find a players PBGUID.
For PBBans server admins, they can use the MPi or Hub Live(if the player is ingame)to check things out.
You can report a player direct to EA for abusing the score / ranking system here;
http://support.ea.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/65

Various issues have cropped up with this game here and there, the latest is PnkbstrB.exe taking 30 - 40% cpu usage resulting in a big fps drop.
The game itself took about a year to get the hang of (still learning btw) and that in itself is worth the price.
BFV was a nice addon for £9:99p and again well worth the price.

The server that gets most of my patronage atm runs a little competition, the highest ranked player each month gets vip access to the server for the following month.
It seems to always have a fair amount of players on it, and more often than not is queued, well the conquest server is coz thats all I play :)

Agreed. I found that even a dual core with a high end graphics card just doesn't cut it. Feels like a 100-200ms video lag as you move the mouse around the screen.

I have to agree that the game play seems good and I do like all the graphics and destructible items, however, without a quad core, it's unplayable most of the time.

As you say, only server admins can get the PBGUID which is unfortunate because they make up only a small percentage of total number of players. IMO, reporting to EA is a waste of effort for the most part and doesn't solve the immediate and serious problem of players (who make up the bulk of gamers) not being able to simply and effectively report suspected cheaters to either Even Balance or server admins without having to lag their game even further by proving evidence in the way of videos etc.

I haven't yet played the Vietnam expansion but I'm hoping it will be better than BFV (graphics wise at least because we all know, BFV had the best and easiest game play of any of the Battlefield series). :D

You can send pb commands using chat however you need client logging enabled to see the results.

Just use a / in front of the command. ie /pb_plist

Hmmm tried that but it didn't seem to work... maybe had the wrong directory (using Win 7 and Steam...). Will investigate it some more.

On a better note, I adjusted my FOV slightly (from 55 to 65) and found the video lag reduced somewhat. Still there, but nowhere near as bad as it is with a FOV of 55. The downside of changing my FOV is that my accuracy seems to have dropped :scratchchin:

Thanks MaydaX. I was aware of that but it doesn't hold true all the time for all games unfortunately.

BTW, you may want to add a small note in there somewhere about the APPDATA folder being hidden and Win7/Vista users will need to "unhide' it first to use it (eg. Show Hidden Files and Folders in Windows 7 / Vista). Might save you from having to answer annoying questions

You don't need to unhide it when your know the destination folder.

Just paste C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\PunkBuster into you directory bar with your username and it will take you right to the folder hidden or not.

Only benefit of unhiding AppData would be to have the folder show up in the user folder, which isn't necessary

That goes to the Roaming folder, PB saves in the local one
