hi all

i am at my wits end

i have put in pb_sv_protecttag 1 [WOLF]

I have had the tag protected on evenbalance, i pay my annual fee

we did this for AA years ago and now have decided to protect tag on our server for cod4 and cod5 since we have been getting a bunch of retards using our tag last couple of weeks

nothing i do will stop me from getting kicked from the server

i use this to type in console pb_regnamepartial "[WOLF]" "password"

is there something i am doing wrong



its been some time since we used this form of protection for our tag

PB_SV_ProtectName [Unique ID] [Registered Name]
Protects the specified PunkBuster Registered Name on the local server so that players who wear the protected name without having the correct Registration Credentials will be removed from the server

PB_SV_ProtectTag [Unique ID] [Registered Tag]
Protects the specified PunkBuster Registered Tag on the local server so that players who wear the protected tag without having the correct Registration Credentials will be removed from the server

These are GUID-based, unless I'm mistaken, you might need to add your whole name to the list. Something I've never used, personally. Others will correct me if I am wrong here.

1. "Password" is correct? I'll assume yes, but you never know. You may have changed it and forgot.

2. Type the pb_regnamepartial "[WOLF]" "password" without the quotes, before you join a server.

3. Make sure a regname.dat appears in your pb folder

password is not really the password hehe

and yes i get a regname.dat in my pb folder

and i have tried to use a protected.cfg and just get the pbsv.cfg to load it

i have tried just adding it to the pbsv.cfg

nothing seems to be working

here is whats i used in the pbsv.cfg its just the last lines there

i think i have read every forum out there on the topic

just to make sure it is a cod4 server

going to be will check in the morning for more updates

With COD4 you may need to use a "\" in front of the command.

Example:

\pb_regnamepartial TAG PASSWORD

You can also open the regname.dat file in a text editor to view the contents.

Should be something similar to this:

PB_REGNAMES
  "TAG" "PASSWORD" Partial

open up your regname.dat file in notepad, delete everything in there and then try again. You can only have 3 lines in there for regname otherwise everything after is ignored

Merlintime, in CoD4 you use a "/" not a "\". Just thought id point that out.
