elitemaster Posted March 6, 2008 Share Posted March 6, 2008 So..one day i reinstalled COD4 after a month i didn't play on it and i found an excellent suprise...a global punkbuster GUID ban on all servers.After a minute of shock i decided to go to this site to check out my ban and possible evidence,etc. And i found this: http://www.pbbans.com/mpi/results.php?srch...amp;safeview=no i'm from Italy,so the first italian IPs are fine,but the last IPs are from UK...and one of them is right on the date and time of the ban..on February 7,2008,with an alias i never used before.I think my account has been hacked,expecially since i never play at 3 am.. :huh: . Tried posting a Support ticket on www.evenbalance.com,and they said just to play on non-punkbuster servers. I probably think i'll never be able to play COD4 on legit servers again,but i posted this the same too see if someone here could help me. Some users from Germany login with my GUID. I dont store my CD-KEY on disk and how this users have my GUID ? I think the security in COD4 is very low. I have many GUID in my log on servers COD4. BOTA:X Posted June 13, 2008 Share Posted June 13, 2008 Your CD keys were likley stolen, its not likely you will figure out how but I do remember a program being posted (and quickly taken down) that supposedly "tweaked" your game but in reality sent the owner your serial number. The cost of getting caught cheating would just to be restart your modem and you're unbanned?? Bad idea. If a cheater has a copy of a serial number there is no way we can just unban the original user without letting the cheater back in. No idea, but as I understand it someone with a serial number from a keygen is very unlikely to have a "valid" one, and would have to play in a cracked server. If they just happen to land on your serial number with some kind of keygen that is very unlucky because that is not likely to happen. Maybe and I would buy new game but cost of game it on west sometimes hour of work. Cost of this game it in Poland sometimes 4 days. So, I will not buy it game once again and producers will lose. And so piracy of game and programs there is so high. I like Call of Duty have 2 and 4 but probably, I will not buy for it already other part. fozzer Posted June 14, 2008 Share Posted June 14, 2008 your respective pbguid's were used to cheat. How the cheaters got hold of your particular pbguid's only you will know for sure. Normal scenario is that a player uses a cod4 tweak programme / instant level 55 programme / cod4 fps enhancer etc etc. All have 1 thing in common, a back door trojan that will steal your cod4 cd key that is in your system registry in plain text. A pbguid is a 32 hexadecimal hash based on the game cd key. If you buy another game, before install make sure your pc is completely malaware free, and do not use programmes from unofficial sources, ever.
