Enforce MBi Bans (Cross Game)

Locked

MaydaX's Photo MaydaX Oct 6, 2011

With some games using one standard PB GUID that is shared among multiple games, we have added a new Enforce MBi Bans (Cross Game) option which checks connecting players GUIDs against the MBi across multiple games that share the same PB GUID. This means that if you get banned in one game you are kicked in other game that uses the same GUID.

Games that share the same PB GUID are:
- Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor (2010),
- Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor Warfighter.

That means if a player is banned in Battlefield 3 they are also automatically banned in Medal of Honor Warfigher (For servers with the Enforce MBi Bans (Cross Game) flag enabled) but that does not apply to Bad Company 2 as they do not share the same GUID.

Reason for edit:: Rename flag

Does this mean if a player is on the MBi for BFBC2 then they will be auto kicked from any streaming server for BF3 if that option is checked?

Provided they are using the same EA GUID then yes.

yes. BF3 GUID's are the same as BC2 and MOH.

They are different. Newer DICE games are tied to an EA account so they have the same GUID. Least when Kalms does the PB integration :)

Doesn't this mean cheaters will simply use multiple accounts, one for each EA game to avoid this very thing (similar to what they do with Steam)?

The ones who aren't complete idiots will do this.

But it's still a good feature as you can also avoid players that were caught cheating in other EA newer games.

The misinformation and assumption posted elsewhere warrants a little explanation I think.
This feature is not the work of EvenBalance, it's not the work of EA/DICE, It's nothing to do with Origin.
This feature was thought of and coded by MaydaX in his role as PBBans website and Hub developer.

At the moment the Enforce MBi Bans (EA GUID) option is only available to PBBans streaming admins.
It's not on by default and the relevant flag must be selected by the streaming server admin.

The newer EA games(BFBC2, MOH and BF3) all have a common pbguid linked to their EA account.
Example:
Previously, when a banned MOH player joined a BFBC2 server, provided he had not raised a cheat violation on BFBC2, he could do so with impunity because the Hub only checked his pbguid against the BFBC2 MBI (Master Ban Index)
Now the option is there for PBBans streaming admins to allow the Hub to check every incoming player against the BFBC2 / MOH / BF3 Master Ban Indexes.
If the incoming players pbguid is found on any of the 3 he will not be able to join the server.
It should be noted that the Hub is doing the checking and not the server so no game server resources are used in the checking process.

It's something akin to a zero tolerance policy being enforced by the Hub on the newer EA game releases that share a common pbguid.
It's entirely optional, so if a server admin disagrees with with any of the above, all he has to do is not check the Enforce MBi Bans (EA GUID) flag.

This feature is unique to PBBans but will probably go the way of every other feature we have pioneered by being copied in its entirety by other sites with no credit given, seems to be the way of the world these days :(
